What her family said

“He put a gun to her head, took my baby in that house, and left her to die.”

The page raised about $19,247 of a $20,000 goal, from 342 donations. It does not print a boyfriend’s name. It does not print 25 Malta Street.
“It wasn’t her time; they took her away from us. She was happy.”
Work, and the funeral notice
Other public record Shary Browne, founder of Shea Butter Smoothies, born and raised in Mattapan. First table at a Mobil on Blue Hill Avenue. Two shops: 777 William T. Morrissey Boulevard, Dorchester, and 617 Centre Street, Jamaica Plain. Instagram @sheabuttersmoothies. On July 20 she posted that a beloved team member, Yoseliani, known as Liani, was brilliant and motivated, with an infectious laughter, a cherished friend to many. Rest in peace, Yoseliani. The shop pledged 50 percent of Big Papi smoothie sales toward funeral costs.
Other public record William F. Spencer Funeral Service, South Boston. Born February 22, 2008. Died July 18, 2026. The notice called her Liani and Mookie. It said she loved Hello Kitty, pink, leopard print, lashes, and friends. Parents: Elenie Ocasio and Jose Marte. Stepmother: Jill Feldman. Funeral Mass: July 27, 2026, Cathedral of the Holy Cross.
Friends, and the community
Other public record Daniel Laurent, @daniellaurentsme, July 19–20. Boston organizer. Founder of Black Dollar. He wrote that the shop and the community had suffered a tragic loss. Yoseliani, better known as Liani, lost her life at 18. Mom and family were organizing services. “I will not litigate how this happened and by who as facts and processes will play out, but for right now we want to send baby girl off with honor and dignity.” Shary Browne was donating Big Papi sales through Monday. Black Dollar pledged. Alex Edwards was matching for Thumbprint Realty and Thumbprint Cares. Comments under the Reel: she was loved by so many people. Shared, and we will donate. This is horrific. Going down to support.
Listing Alex Edwards matched that donation. The same office had listed the house. MLS 73527514, agent Chantae Turner, Thumbprint Realty. Listed June 1, 2026 at $1,200,000. Cut July 7 to $1,150,000. Pulled July 18, the same calendar day as the homicide. Turner’s “Multifamily Mondays” post called it a 4-bedroom, a 2-bedroom, and a newly renovated 2-bedroom accessory unit, with $6,100 a month already coming in. Thumbprint also handled the January 24, 2022 rental listing for Unit 2. The matching gift is the listing office. It is not a statement about who lived there that day. It is not a motive.
Other public record Shaquera’s Story, a domestic-violence consultancy, posted a family-approved vigil: July 23, 2026, 7:00 to 8:00 p.m., sidewalk at 25 Malta Street. The post tagged the smoothie shop, Black Dollar, Thumbprint Cares, and Julia Mejia.
Other public record Councilor Julia Mejia, July 20: heartbroken by the death of 18-year-old Yoseliani Marte in Mattapan. She wrote as a domestic-violence survivor and said she had partnered with Shaquera’s Story. July 22: “Say Her Name: Yoseliani Marte.” A prayer vigil. A life cut short as a result of domestic violence. July 26: she stood with the family. Her thank-you list names the shop, Black Dollar, Thumbprint Cares, neighbors, Representative Ayanna Pressley, Conan Harris, Rachael Rollins, WCVB, Boston Police, and Boston EMS. A thank-you is not a charge.
“Last night was about Yoseliani Marte, her loving family, friends, and a community grieving a life stolen and ended far too soon. I joined them in releasing balloons in her memory and standing with those demanding that young girls and women be protected, believed, and allowed to live freely and without fear. May Yoseliani be remembered for the joyous life she lived and not only for the domestic violence that took her from us.”
Other public record Friends left a photograph of her taped to the picket fence, Hello Kitty items, pink and purple balloons, and Doritos, which friends said were one of her favorite snacks. The Herald photographed a silver star balloon: “I’ma miss my twin. I’m sick I didn’t get to say my goodbye.”
Other public record Three young women at the house wore pins with her face. They declined to speak to the Herald without permission from her mother. They said they wanted the truth to come out. Women at the memorial told the Globe she planned on college and had participated in a Harvard Medical School program. “She should be remembered as intelligent, young, and full of life.”
Other public record Kelyce Watson, a childhood friend, at the July 23 vigil, to WCVB: “She was fun, energetic and never had anyone’s worst intention at heart.”
Commentary John F. Gately, July 27: while news spread of the death of Liani Marte in Mattapan, multiple Instagram accounts that report on the Boston rap scene posted that a local rapper had not been charged with the murder. Those pages are scene accounts. They are not named friend accounts. They are not Boston Police. No post on the friend and community pages prints a music name.
Unverified A personal Instagram or TikTok under Liani, Mookie, or adore.liani was not confirmed as hers. A personal grid belonging to a named school friend was not confirmed. Neither is used here. Family statements describe a boyfriend and do not print a music name on camera.
Where she lived
Other public record Telemundo’s vigil story called 25 Malta Street the house where she lived.
Family, on record Her family said she lived in Dorchester and was visiting.
Both lines stay. Neither one is a lease. Police have not named a boyfriend. Instagram scene pages name a music handle. That handle is not this page. Mikey ABK. What people said.
Open homicide. No defendant named by police.
