Leases, registrations, certificates, and court files. Not a people-search roster. Aggregator “residents” stay off this page.
What Boston requires
Other public record A Boston owner who rents must register the building every year. The fee is per unit. Vacant units still count. Relatives over 18 who are not on the deed still count. The city then inspects at least once every five years.
Unverified The rental-registration portal is account-gated. This file does not show whether Conan Harris’s 25 Malta Street registration is current. That is a click at Inspectional Services, 617-635-1010, or a records request for parcel 1801213000. Nothing public says this was a short-term rental.
How many legal units
Other public record The assessor card still reads as a two-family, 2,184 square feet of living area.
Listing The 2026 listing reads as three units plus an accessory unit, 2,713 square feet.
Unverified The paper that would settle it is ALT1796948, the long-form alteration dated completed April 27, 2026, and the certificate of occupancy that should follow it. We have the permit number. We do not have the certificate. Until that image is in the folder, “three legal units” is the listing’s sentence, not the city’s last word.
Apartment #2
Police The walk-in and the scene are apartment #2, a rear bedroom. That places the death. It does not name a leaseholder.
Listing January 24, 2022: listed for rent at $3,200 a month. Agent Chantae Turner, Thumbprint Realty. Twelve-month lease. No pets. Water, sewer, snow, and gardener included. Security deposit $3,200. Listing crumbs also carry PIN 72936562. March 30, 2022: marked rented at $3,160.
That is the only named unit with a public lease event inside the Harris years. It does not name the tenant. It does show Unit 2 was offered and taken in spring 2022.
What the June 2026 listing said was leased
Listing MLS 73527514. Sales copy. Not a lease packet.

- New 2-bedroom accessory unit — under lease: no. Vacant in the copy.
Listing June 8, 2026, Chantae Turner’s Reel: $6,100 a month already coming in from the leased units. The accessory unit was pitched as extra.
Commentary Turner told reporters after July 18 that the tenants had lived there “for a while.”
Scene rumor A neighbor told reporters there were long-term renters, including teens, on each floor.
Those are occupancy statements. They are not leases. They do not name anyone.
Yoseliani Ann Marte Ocasio
Family, on record Family told WCVB she lived in Dorchester and was visiting a boyfriend on July 18. Police have not said she held a lease. This file does not write her as a tenant of record.
Housing Court
Unverified Searches for “25 Malta,” “25 Malta Street,” “25 Malta St,” and Conan Harris as a Mattapan landlord did not return a summary-process case at this address. A web search is not a certified “no cases.” MassCourts still needs a party search for HARRIS, CONAN in Eastern Housing Court, 2016–2026.
Thrown out: Glendale Associates against Kevin K. Harris is a different Harris and a different building. Annie Gordon, Fairlawn, and SoMa at the T are Mattapan, not Malta Street.
Lead and the city inspection
Other public record Registration is supposed to trigger an inspection at least once every five years. Lead-safe letters live with Inspectional Services. None were in the public snippets for this address.
Listing The listing box said “lead paint: none.” That is a broker box, not a lab sheet.
What this drawer can say
- From May 2021, Harris has been the landlord of record.
- Unit 2 was advertised and marked rented in early 2022. No tenant name.
- By June 2026 the listing said two units were leased, one accessory unit was vacant, and $6,100 a month was in place.
- The city required annual registration. The row was not seen.
- No eviction at this address turned up in this pass. That is not a court certificate.
- The victim is not a documented tenant.
What it will not say
- No people-search names.
- No current occupant named.
- “Visiting a boyfriend” is not a lease.
Public-safety paper is already the crime file. It has the street and not the unit.
